Its Hard to Stay in Mexico
by Carole Thacker It is amazing how hard it is to stay in Mexico for several months! At least 29 days out of 30 you wake up to bright sunlight and a gentle breeze. The one off day means a little cloud, probably just in the morning. You have to face endless days of swimming and floating in the ocean, walking beaches, playing volleyball in the pool, water exercises, parties, fishing, playing games, hiking, doing crafts, shopping and eating both in great restaurants and group dinners. When you get up you have to make decisions like shall I walk the dog first or enjoy the view and have a coffee, fresh fruit or fresh orange juice.? Should I go to the office now for internet or later? Would it be better to go to town now or after volleyball? When this decision is made then you have to decide whether to put your bathing suit on now or later. Is it ladies day at the golf course? Should I get a massage today or tomorrow? Somehow the days zoom by even faster than when you had to punch a time clock and account for every minute of your day. I like to say you have to schedule a nap. We winter in a beautiful RV Park in Nayarit, Mexico by the town of La Peņita
de Jaltemba. The RV Park bears the same name as the town. The town and park are
on the beach approximately 60 kilometers north of Puerto Vallarta. The town of
La Peņita grew as a service town to the town of Rincon de In the town of La Peņita there is a bank, two ATM machine, several good restaurants, great taco stands, a market, hotels and bungalows, good dentists and doctors , several grocery stores, a Spanish school, and lots of shops. You can get pretty well anything repaired and if you cant you will find lots of help to find what you need. There is now a golf course nearby. Puerto Vallarta and Tepic are about 1 hour away in either direction if you need city stuff. The drive down to La Peņita from the border is an easy 3 day drive on 4 lane highways most of the way. That is if you stay on the toll roads. If you want to take the free roads you will travel on 2 lane highways. These tend to have more traffic and a lot of trucks. We generally travel the toll roads. The reason we travel farther south than Mazatlan is mostly the weather. It is warmer. Temperature range from about 75 degrees F to 80 degrees in the daytime and cool down at night for a good sleep. The ocean temperature stays around 80-85 degrees. We love it so much we took over the running of the Park. This season we are thinking of offering a free caravan from Nogales to La Peņita .
